A Very Sad Day

這場大火真的令我很震驚。千萬沒想到這程度的火災,會發生在像香港這麼先進的城市。跟夫人不同，我說不上是一個大埔人，但婚後每次回港，都是在大埔生活的。宏福苑，廣福村一帶不是我們的生活圈，但每次經過，就像是在remind我們即將會到達或離開大埔。就表面看來，這是一場人禍，但當然有待當局完成調查。但可以肯定的，就是很多無辜的人，命運就從此改變。願逝者安息。

The Road to Old Trafford.

If all goes to plan, we’ll be visiting the UK this coming Christmas Day. We broke the news to the kids, and my daughter’s first reaction was, “Oh, so what will happen to Santa?” I guess there’ll be no one home to let Santa in!

近來網上鋪天蓋地式人人AI Ghibli Style，老實講，真是有點兒吃不消。起初的確是挺有趣的，但一如以往，網民一窩瘋上腦後件事被快速玩爛。

版權，作者意願等問題，太深，不談了。只能說，我們都只會在自己良心觸及到的範圍內做一個有良心的人。

It was completely snowy outside yesterday. Our cheeky daughter went to the shopping mall with us , and of course she wouldn't go home empty handed. She costed us 75 dollars yesterday, but it was money well spent because we got to spend some time with her.

A rainy day.

Calgary很少下雨天,多數都是落雪或天晴。我一向喜歡雨天,所以每逢下雨我都會很高興。感覺很Relax,很Chill。

Boi

Oh my, how is our little Boi turning 15 years old in just a couple of weeks? I still remember him being so little, and now he’s a fully grown young man! If all goes to plan, in a few years he will be leaving us to study abroad.

Believe me, it will happen in just the blink of an eye.

First Service

This morning, I dropped her off for the first scheduled service. We tried to activate the Remote Connect feature on the car, and part of the process involved pressing the SOS button. The Calgary Police ended up calling me to confirm if there was an emergency.

There was another GR in the workshop too. The Trueno Blue looks pretty nice in person.

The Bay

Hudson's Bay, often referred to as "The Bay," is the largest Canadian department store, with over a hundred years of history. It recently revealed its financial struggles and it's plan to shut down most of its stores across Canada. None of the stores in Calgary will survive. It is very sad to see.

Spring Break

又到Spring break了，小鬼們不用上課兩週。雖然我倆仍要上班，但一想到不用跑School run，就有如自己都有份放假一樣。

他們下一個長假期便是Summer break，很期待Hawaii 呢！

Happy 20th Anniversary

Yesterday was our 20th anniversary. I didn't realize until you mentioned it. Time goes by so fast these days before you even notice. But what happened that night still feels like it was just yesterday. We need to visit that spot next time we go to New Zealand.

70% excited and 30% nervous.

It looks like Broadcom has left us no choice but to exit their solutions. Our infrastructure is not exactly small; this will be the largest migration project I have ever led. I am excited and nervous at the same time.

Vesting time.

March and September are the share vesting periods. I am pleased to see the 1.8x performance factor—very nice! You’ve got to enjoy it while it lasts.

An energetic Monday morning.

We woke up to a typical Calgary winter morning—around minus 10 degrees, not too bad. As the day warmed up and the temperature rose above freezing, it turned into a beautiful day outside. It definitely gave me an energy boost on this Monday morning.

Spring is just around the corner, and we still haven’t done enough skiing this winter!

沒什麼,是比一家人齊齊整整更重要了。

It took me longer enough to finally check this box. I'm one lucky man. Thank you love for allowing and supporting me to be 任性.

眨下眼又一個星期，明天夫人便會工幹回來。數天沒見，很是掛念。

因工作需要，我倆間中都會出差。我覺得，這些小別就如替一段關係做身體檢查。而最新一次的健康報告，仍然是滿分。

Moving on...... Unwillingly.

After two years of waiting, I finally canceled my FL5 pre-order today. The Type R has always held a special place in my heart, probably more than most people realize. I was very looking forward to own both the first and last generations of the pure ICE model of the Civic Type R. I know there will always be a newer and faster CTR in the future, but they will either be hybrid or EV—they will no longer be the same.

Anyway, I tried, but the Honda God never answered my prayers. I guess it’s time for me to accept reality and move on. Disappointed? Very. Relieved? Kind of. I feel unfulfilled.

ECP

 太好了,原來Extra Protection Care (ECP)是包括Tire Road Hazard Protection 的。幸好出車時加了。Big win ! 以後出車都一定要加ECP呢。

How hard was that?

I don't get it. How hard can it be to load your own dishes into the dishwasher? The dishwasher is right next to the sink, and we're talking about a full-grown adult here. Were you really that busy? Or did you simply forget to bring your mum to work with you—the one who probably does all your dishes at home? Pathetic.

今天和小鬼們重遊Telus Spark Science Center，對上一次可能已經是5，6年前了。

設施基本上沒有大改變， 展區好像比之前還少，有點兒run down的感覺。不久將來要一次大翻新吧？

Telus Spark對於我們來說總是回憶滿滿的，在初來步到的兩三年，我們每隔數週都會去那裡走一倘。哥哥最愛玩水流澗道，妹妹就最愛那室內攀扒區域。哈哈他們現在已因超齡而不准進入了:D 重遊舊地，他倆不停的說 "I remember this!"，很有趣。

有一點沒變，就是哥哥妹妹都在回家途中睡著了。I remember this。 

週末早上

清早起床，看見兩個小鬼頭還在抱頭熟睡中，昨晚應該跟朋友們玩到很夜吧？我已經記不起由何時開始，他們不再比我們早睡早起了。

我還記得老爸在週末早上，有時也會在門縫中悄悄的看我。可能，當時他心裡也是盼望著一句 "爸，不如我們一起去吃個早餐吧!" :)

Single Parents

夫人要外出工幹一週,所以我將要過短暫Single Parent生活。現在孩子們長大了，相比之前已經輕鬆得多。大致上只需照顧他們飲食和logistic，其他的他們大概都能自足。我倒是較擔心這個星期的工作量。

我真的很佩服那些全職單親父母,你們是怎樣撐下去的？是對子女的愛吧？

Trade war.

I don't often talk about politics, nor do I like to. However, I think we need to discuss the ongoing tariffs and trade war, as they are and will continue to deeply affect Canada.

I don't like Trump, but I dislike those left-plastic elite politicians even more. I've always thought he is a very smart businessman. He is a master at creating chaos, making people react impulsively so that he can secure the deal he wants.

Is it really border security that he cares about, or is he just bullying people to showcase U.S. dominance? Either way, things definitely aren’t going as well as he hopes they would.

For us Canadians, I think this is a wake-up call to reconsider putting all our eggs in one basket.

Anyway, I need this to end ASAP since I have a considerable amount of company shares vesting in two weeks, and I also need the CAD to bounce back before the Leica Q2 auction ends (XD).

No one wins in a trade war. What a crazy world that we live in. 

斷.捨.離 .

近幾年，我開始慢慢downsize我的sneaker collection, 由高峰其期的過百對到現在的數十對。

最近我終於決定將collection進一步縮小，或者只保存5至10對吧？是非常不捨，but it needs to be done at some point, right?

賣仔莫摸頭。擁有過，已經很好。

I found this so funny—every statement is true, except what RTV recall? I wish they would acknowledge the deflect and issue a recall.

But hey, it’s a great car, and it brings me joy every time I drive it!

四十有中

 一轉眼，就十多年。四十有中，原來人生已經走了大半。

我們八年前離開了NZ，跑到了地球的另一邊去尋找新生活。慶幸我們踏出了這一步，但也後悔為何遲遲才踏出這一步。

這些年來生活過得還不錯，大緻上跟計劃的沒有多大出入，感覺很充實。

最近我倆有了一個共悉，就是希望能到一個新地方去體驗新生活(中東地區?)，時點應該是當女兒上了大學吧。

妳我都是沒有腳的鳥兒，沒救。
